Mission of the SC7A: To offer the Region's young high-potential rugby players the greatest opportunity to develop through the game of Rugby Sevens, by providing a comprehensive, competitive environment that helps players develop physically and cognitively under the direct supervision of Kansas City's top coaches.

In 2017 the Academy will again consist of a 2-week SC7A High Performance Program in mid-June, during which we’ll ask for 100% commitment and engagement from interested athletes who will in-turn get the same level of support from our dedicated Coaches. That 2-week program will include a heavier emphasis on individual player development and the formation of Academy sides for 2 tournaments, and will be an entry point for collegiate-aged athletes into to the KC Blues 7’s summer program. After the 2-week program concludes, Academy members who have gone through the 2-week SC7A High Performance Program are welcome to come and train with the KC Blues 7’s program for the remainder of the summer and to compete to earn a place on one of the 2 Blues Qualifier Teams, or to compete as Academy sides if desired. Similar to previous years, we will enter as many teams as possible in various divisions in weekend tournaments – however they won’t be considered Academy teams unless the players were part of the 2-week HP Program.

This will be an evening program with assemblies 5 nights per week for approximately 2 weeks from June 5 – June 21, and will include weekend tournament play on June 10th (KC) and June 17th (Austin, TX).

2-week SC7A High Performance Program participants will get certain benefits that will differentiate their experience and their development. Athletes who are unable to commit to the 2-week SC7A High Performance Program are still welcome to come out this summer! While they won’t have the distinction of being part of the Academy they’ll still have the opportunity to have fun while developing in a competitive format and aligning their skills and training to the high performance standards of a Nationally competitive men's 7s program. So while we will not offer the same summer-long Academy programming and coaching that we have in the past, all collegiate-aged players who want to train with the Blues and compete in weekend tournaments will still have the opportunity to do so for the summer.

Over the past four summers many of you have helped us build SC7A into an outstanding development vehicle for Collegiate rugby players. I really hope you’ll all come back again and be a part of the ongoing success!

We’ll be running player registration online in May. There will be a registration fee for the SC7A HP Program that will cover your expenses for the 2-week program as well as the remainder of the summer, and we will also have a registration fee for players who cannot commit to the SC7A HP Program but still want to be a part of the KC Blues 7’s summer program.

Registration opens on May 20th, and will run until May 31st, 2017.
SC7A High Performance Rugby Program fee is $230.00
Athletes who register will receive a SC7A Playbook, SC7A Training Top, and SC7A Match Jersey.
*Participation in the SC7A High Performance Program includes membership for the SC7A and Blues for the complete Summer 7’s programs.
